I'm not sure if this is the right place for this.

I just wondered what employers/bosses thought about taloried shorts (with tights) for work (hairdresser)? Do you think it looks too sloppy/tarty? :D

You'll know yourself if it looks sloppy. tarty is another thing! If its in with the colour scheme, and they are smart and with nice footwear and top I can't see why not. We don't wear tunics in the salon, we wear navy and cream, but everything works well and looks good. I wouldn't be too bothered with you wearing them as long as you looked the part. If its a young trendy salon then it can look quite cool! wear some fab gladiators and some minx (or whatever you use in your salon lol) on your toes and you'll look the part! Hth x x

So judging by this thread.... did you get the job then? or have you heard anything?

No not heard anything yet.

I wore them for my interview and kept them on for work afterwards (they're black tailored smart looking) and I think because I'm really short (4ft 11!!!) that I can get away without them looking tarty. But someone at work (I work in an office) apparently made a comment yesterday, and I was pulled into the board room this morning and told that they are not appropriat for work, and that got me worried that they might have thought the same at the salon. But I wore them with black tights, flat shoes and a smart black top.

I think pretty much anything goes for in a salon. i wear mostly a dress and leggings or tights but I don't like wearing jeans or my staff wearing jeans, or anything overly casual. something smart and trendy really. i would have no issue with someone wearing what you described to work. hey, ive had a girl come in in her purple velour tracksuit....

now that is not salon appropriate.

It sounds trendy and smart to me. Something you youngsters could wear but sadly not me lol

Sounds to me that you looked quite smart,
i wear these tailored knee length shorts in summer with my salon tunic and they look smart enough,
im the same height as you so i know what you mean.

i wear tailored shorts to work in the salon and my boss has no complaint, i always wear them with tights or leggings and nice shoes, i just think they make a nice change from trousers :)

I think it looks really smart my best friend wears them all the time with tights and smart shoes and I can honestly say I think she looks lovely, and she works in a strict office to and they have no problem

Dont take it to heart probably just a jealous co worker trying to get one over

Good luck and hope you have a positive result from your interview
