Just posted this on blogs, but I need an answer quite soon so though I'd ask here!

Would you do treatments in a pub full of people? Waxing, eyebrows nails etc ?

I've emailed my concerns and said I worry about the general public being there and also privacy but; also the health and safety of people and don't like my wax pot hanging around in a pub or chemicals etc.

Then I've just been asked for a donation which I knew nothing about.

Please can you advise. Would you go or not go on the basis of what I've said?

Thanks

Is this full / part time or for a fundraising night?

If it is for all of the time then I would not like it but if it is for a fundraising night then yes go for it. Make your area safe and only do small treatments. Like brow tint lash tint and facial waxing file and polish. There will be no real need for the client privicy and you might gain new clients.

It is not something that I would concider doing on a full or part time basis though.

Mmm personally i wouldn't. People will have been drinking and things may get knocked over. Also can you imagine trying to do a treatment on someone who 'has had a few'!
Ooh halfway through an eyebrow wax and they move about due to having had too much to drink! Not worth the risk in my opinion!

Personally, I really struggle with charity treatments as a promotional tool. Sure - I like the free advertising, but do I really want my professional name associated with a painful entertainment for gentlemen 'under the influence'? Hmmm. . . . . Would you ever see a public tattooist? I never have. For me; stay clear - offer a raffle prize instead. It'll cost you much less, and have nearly the same marketing buzz. There's so much more that you can do!

There's a woman in Cambridge who goes around pubs on Friday and Saturday nights and gives Indian Head Massages. I would never do this, a drunk person is a very strong contrainindication and in my opinion it's really unprofessional!
On other other hand, I think small one off treatments like simple nails etc might work in a pub if you did them early on, say between 5 and 7, before the drunken rabble comes out in force!

You could always give them a sample they can compare to, why not.

Not matter how trashed, they have the evidence the next day.

It's better than anonymously sticking a bloody leaflet under a windscreen while they are in the pub.

Prudes may advise otherwise, but if they had the guts, opportunity or realised the potential, they may think otherwise.

In these times you have to give everything a go at least once to see if it works.

Imagine if you got one nail client from doing this, then multiply that clients money over a year, (just one client represents $1560 per year) the snobs will have to laugh on the other side of their faces.

Take the plunge and have a go.

I recently did a stint in a nightclub and have had a brilliant response.

I can't understand why people whinge they have no clients, bitch about being quiet, yet don't go out and actively seek new clients.

YOU GO GET EM !!!!!!

I work in a pub a few nights a week and my boss is always asking me if i fancy setting up one night and doing treatments as all the customers are really interested in it especially the tanning and i have a few ladies that have f&p once a week that i do whilst im working they normally bring there own polish and i supply my own base & top coat and its just a quick job for a couple of pounds. This always leads to regualr conversations about what i do and i often get people who have been ear wigging asking for business cards etc, so its always a winner in 1 or the other its getting my name out there and costing me nothing for advertising.

Hi

I did an event for a wellknown drinks brand not so long ago, whereby I was paid to give manicures to the public in return for them sampling a new cocktail.

I was paid extremely well (only did file and polish) and was allowed to hand out my business cards and leaflets as well.

We were given a seperate area at the back of the pub which was sectioned off for the treatments.

Everyone was delighted to get a freebie and overall the response was great.

It gained me a few clients I wouldn't otherwise have got and also was a paying job itself!:)
