IF YOU ARE WORKING FROM HOME, CAN YOU PUT A SIGN OR A-BOARD OUTSIDE YOUR HOUSE/DRIVE? OR WOULD YOU NEED TO ASK THE COUNCIL??

You should ask the council about that some of them do not like it and some are fine. :)

Deffo ask the council, I had a board outside on my property and the council came out, they advised me to move it, some1 had complained. But ask the council it does depend on the area.

Be very careful with this one of my friends ran a salon from home and hadn't informed her insurance company or mortgage company. She put signs up outside and ended up in bother something to do with the mortgage not being eligable for business or something :S

Definate ask the council. Even if they don't mind, you'll probably need a Health and Safety inspection. You'll also need to speak to your mortgage provider and your home insurance people.

Welcome to the boards!

(here's a wee tip - on this forum and every other one I've been on, using all capitals is the equivalent to shouting. We'll hear you just fine in small letters :)

I have just come off the phone to my local council about working from home and they are happy for me to do this as I will be only having one client at a time in my home.:) As for advertising outside on my garden railings/wall, this is a different matter. I have to apply for Advertising Consent at a cost of £150 and this doesn't guarantee that this will be accepted by them  Got to try though

I dont think this goes down well with the neighbours but depends where you are definately have to check with council though I wouldnt risk it
