HI Geeks,

Well I have just found out that we are pregnant, and just wanted to know if it was safe of not to do nails still.
I have tried researching on google and stuff, but havent got any answers so far.
What have other peoples experiences been? Had anyone else been pregnant and still continued on to work doing nails?
I am worried about the fumes mostly.

Read the tutorial that Geeg has pointed you too, it will put your mind at ease, you have absolutely nothing to worry over. I have been a nail tech for 22 years and had 2 beautiful and healthy boys. And during both pregnancys i carried on as normal working anything up to 8 - 10 hours a day and my clients were on the hour, every hour. Work safely and enjoy your pregnancy.

Hi, Pregnancy effects women in different ways. Some will have a tendency to faint while pregnant and certain smells and fumes (dangerous or not) can trigger this off, so it's certainly worth being aware of this.

Personally, I'd read up on all your MSDS and decide if you want to use them while pregnant or at least make sure you are using them correctly, e.g, acetone and nail glue (ethyl cyanoacrylate) can be particularly nasty if used incorrectly.

I think we need to get the accurate perspective and not be naming particular products because ... anything can have the potential to be hazardous if used incorrectly.

There is no link between nail products and problems during pregnancy. Suffice it to say that you should follow all manufacturers' safety instructions as should we always .. pregnant or not. Normal precautions such as good ventillation are as important while you are pregnant as they are when you are not pregnant.

Thanks everyone, that has definately put my mind at ease. I only do a few sets a week, so ill just take the necesary precautions when doing them.
Thanks agin :)
