My worst treatment was a few years back. I had gone to see a therapist for facial threading. She asked me if I wanted her to use wax, I explained I was currently taking roaccutane and so I wasn't allowed to wax. The therapist went on to say that she didn't know what roaccutane was and did I want her to wax? I explained to her that if you take roaccutane your skin becomes very delicate
Etc etc. the therapist said well this wax is for sensitive skin and just dolloped it on my skin.....:Scared:

Just remembered another one - when I was 18, long time ago, went to hairdressers and asked for layers in my shoulder length hair...was showed final cut in the mirror and to my horror I almost had a mullet...the layers at the back were so short that they stuck up. Was mortified. Got home and sprayed so much hair spray on to keep it down. Looked like I had a ducks backside on my head when I'd slept on it too!!!

Same thing happened to me at 16, I spent atleast 3 month having to use gel to try stick my hair back down at the top but you could still see, I felt so paranoid!

I went to a "qualified hairdressers" house to get my dark brown hair dyed blonde :O (first off she assured me she would get it blonde in one go, I should have know better but this was before I qualified as a hairdresser)

I was sat at a chair at the back of her partly wall paperd living room which was desperate in need of a hoover and a declutter, her living room was filled with people, husband, 2 kids, her mother and daughters friend.... All sat there whilst I got my head bleached :O it was sooo akward. She smoked fags continuously whilst I was waiting for it to lift and even offered me one :O yikes

It turned out yellow/ginger in parts even after toning. She told me to come back to get it refine (oh god I didn't want to but I also didn't want my hair like this)

So, went for my next appointment to be told at the door she was ill, could I return another day... Ffs. So I did.

Even after the 2nd bleaching/toning it was not what u had wanted and my head was full of scabs... Yuk. I ended up going back dark soon after.

Horrible experience and she is still in business... Think she got her qualifications out a cereal box

Another time I went to get my eyebrows fine at a place that did them beautifully before but this time was a dif girl.
I showed her a pic of katy perry and said i wanted them this shape (I have very thick brows and had left them to grow out for 6 weeks so could get them this shape, which was not easy!)

They turned out horrible, nothing like the pic and they didn't even match! I had to sort them myself at home to get them looking half decent!
I've never been back there since! I do them myself now and Ivan happy with them :)

I got a set of acrylics once and the lady drilled my nail beds and cut my fingers in several places. It was a bit like having several paper cuts because I didn't notice the cuts at first but then she put alcohol on my hands and I nearly cried. It was agony! I told her how much it hurt and asked her to stop but she said she couldn't because she was halfway through, so I sat there miserable trying not to look like it hurt and when she was done I smiled and paid because I'm too much of a wimp to say anything!

Wow! - At least all our hard work pay's off - it is a shame these therapist's do not keep up to Industry standard - This just make's us geek's better therapist's, there is room for improvement in everything we do - which make's our service's better and customer service skills even more so X

Week before my sisters wedding & my sister, mum & I all had a booking to have our hair coloured & cut at home, mum had been going to this hairdresser for months previous, I wanted some flashes of blonde put thing through, being a base 2 (I know this now) I knew it wouldn't be easy. The hairdresser had bought 6% with her which she used on both mums & sisters all over colours & on my flashes. I commented to say the last time I had it done the girl used 12% to lift & the had to tone to which she said 'its ok I've doubled it up so it's 12% now'.. At the time I thought isn't hat clever & 4 hours later with ginger hair I thought 'she's fecking lied to me' & the next day I paid again to have my mid back length hair chopped off to my above shoulders & a semi put through :(

I've also been burnt in 2 salons a lip waxing, had a chunk taken out of my eyebrow with threading, had an allergic reaction to a facial only to find out she was using supermarket bought cleanser & toner, & a bikini wax which resulted in my walking like I'd just given birth to a 10lb baby for nearly a week

The worst experience ive had is when I went to Egypt with my now fiancé.. I was 18 years old went on holiday for the 1st time without my mum or dad lol.. Being blonde, blue eyed and pale skin i didn't know in Egypt you'd get a lot of hassle..
Anyway he surprises me with a beauty day I go to the salon on the hotel complex.. I have a pedicure and he starts pouring DETTOL in the bloody bowl of warm water, then he starts going to file my hard skin he caused me so much friction burns I couldn't walk for days the red nail varnish was running down my toes and he filed my nails down so much you could see the skin behind my toe nail .. I was young, naive and didnt have a clue what was going on lol

Next we had our full body massages an was pleased when I seen a woman which kept Calling me Cleopatra and my boyfriend Tutan Kawmoon (however u spell it lol) only for a bloke to walk out and she takes him and I have to go with him (shudder) anyway the massage was lovely and we had clay put on us which we where then escorted to the showers and the bloke tries to hold my hand which I then tell him to do one im perfectly capable of walking myself.. he then asks me if i would marry him -_- my boyfriend is in the shower next to me but he finishes before me and gets escorted to the sauna which I didn't know, I then finish in the shower and start calling him (no answer) to open the door to find 3 slimy Egyptian men stood there looking at me dripping wet in my bikini. I shout where's my boyfriend and they obviously don't speak a word of English..I grabbed my towel and ran out of the place as fast as I could.. I was shaking with fear and upset he comes out behind me in which the Egyptian men do and have the cheek to offer him 1000 camels in exchange for me.. Needless to say I made a complaint to the hotel rep and was given a full refund.. I shiver every time thinking about what could of happened that day

Oh dear, how traumatic! :O that is horrible

I've not had experiences as bad as some of you but had a few hairdresser issues and even cut my own hair for a while (I'm not trained) because I still did it better/ more how I wanted than any hair dressers did prior to finding the place I go to now. A bit worrying :/ lol

Felt like I had nearly all my hair pulled out by a very opinionated hairdresser who washed my hair with such force my neck and scalp ached for a full day afterwards. The same woman also ignored my requests and told me what haircut I wanted!

I've had two wonky fringe experiences. The first time I told the hairdresser at the time, she corrected it, then made it wonky again when tidying up at the end!
The second time, I went to a well known chain for a dry cut. Said I wanted a full fringe cutting in and to keep my hair long but I like shorter layers. She said "you can't have short layers with a dry cut" why? "Because it'll go too choppy, you just can't" so then she trimmed my hair, a lot! And layered (butchered) my hair so that the ends looked scabby and wispy and I had blunt chunks of hair further up. And gave me a hideous fringe. I have a side parting, and if it had been wonky going down away from my parting I wouldn't have minded as much but it was the other way! Blended at the parting side then blunt and really far round the side of my head at the other and looked awful if I didn't brush my hair forwards a bit to cover it..

And before I trained in lashes I had weekend lashes done (advertised as individual) that were glued to my skin. Without even asking what I wanted I was told to lay down and close my eyes. No under eye pads. It STUNG! And she glued my lower lashes to my top ones! And had to run remover along the bottom. Which stung even more! It hurt to blink and took half my eyelashes out when they came off! X ImageUploadedBySalonGeek1380889324.348245.jpg

Beauty I have had bad waxing treatments where I have been burnt with wax and a Brazilian attempted with strip wax, the result was severe bruising. I have had a hole filed in my nail with gel extensions that took 3 hrs. And I have had a massage that left me in pain with bruising :-/
Hair is what I have suffered the worst, the occasion that sticks in my mind was when I paid a tremendous amount of money to have my hair dyed back to my natural dark brunette to cover highlights. It went purple, they tried to fix it and it got worse. The hairdresser then proceeded to take out the feathering scissors to my long hair and chop into it. I wasn't happy and neither was his boss. he was very apologetic and couldn't explain why he had done that. Baffling. I think he panicked? I was very upset, I had to change my parting as there were tufts sticking up.

Got a couple of worst experiences! The first was when i was at college studying hair and beauty. Mine was a three year full time course and my friend was doing the two year beauty. We had heard about a catwalk show being sponsored by a very well known hair brand who wanted volunteers to have their hair done on the catwalk in front of a large audience. This was the 80s and my friend at the time had beautiful long blue/black corkscrew permed hair but was ready for a bit of a change and change she got! They cut it really short and permed it a really tight afro perm so it looked like she had a curly skull cap on! She couldnt see what was happening as the whole thing took place in front of the audience with no mirror and she then had to parade the look! She was heartbroken and furious but had no comeback because she had volunteered and there was nothing we could do with her hair so she had to cover it until it grew!
The second was at a salon in a well known Gym chain where a lovely Elemis facial was spoiled by a bored young girl who smelled so strongly of curry i had to hold my breath the whole time, who then waxed my eyebrows so brutally the whole of my eyes and forehead was red and swollen for 2 days. She took my naturally thick brows down to a fine line without asking what i wanted and seemed astonished that i wasnt happy! She was young, bored and not bothered, sad for both of us!

Mine was about 6 years ago - I had a set of lash extensions done - this was before I was in the industry.
At the time most sets seemed to be about £80 and she was offering for £40 ( but I was young and naive) so booked her to come round.
She turned up with her couch and lashes and she looked like trash ( not that I'm one to judge on appearances) but she had the most awful hair extensions and she was covered from head to foot in spray tan solution on her cream clothes???

There was no consultation or paperwork filled out. No pads applied and after half an hour when I was told to open my eyes I couldn't. Both were stuck firm so she proceeded to pull at both my eyes with her fingers trying to pry my now sore and stinging eyes. So this didn't work so next she got scissors and cut my lashes open. To be honest I was just relieved to be able to open my eyes. I fumbled my way to the mirror still only partially sighted by the stinging glue and result of her fingers being in my eyes whilst she tried to prize them open.,

What I saw actually looked like spiders legs had been stuck on my lashes and they pointed in all directions possible. She had used so much glue that it hurt every time I blinked and I looked horrendous.

I quickly told her how pleased i was ( because back then I was far too polite) and sent her on her way. I actually cried when she left and I had to get the scissors and cut them to make them kind of even. The next day I had to work and dreaded to leave to house. I layered them with mascara and had to curl them to make look slightly presentable before heading into town to get them removed by a horrified therapist. After an hour they were off but my eyes hurt for days.

I am now a lash tech and unfortunately still seeing this poor work but nothing yet on par with mine.

That is AWFUL!!!! How can people just not care and not take pride in there work... I just don't understand. That must have been so scary when you couldn't open your eyes!

This exact thing happened to me in salon! All the same, no consultation or anything. I panicked so much when I couldnt open my eyes & every time I opened them the fumes of the glue got into my eyes & it felt like needles poking into them, it has turned me off ever getting or doing lashes!

Same happened with false lashes on the day of my 21st :/

Not as bad as a few of you but I have a few
Having a Hollywood, eye brow underarm and leg wax from an "experienced therapist". My left eye brow was taken too far in, my left underarm was only half waxed (!!!) my Hollywood my bum was still hairy and the front all the hairs were snapped and not removed! And my legs there was a line of hair up the inside of each leg grr!
Having lashes and no patch test no consultation no client form and I took a reaction to the pads under my eyes I kept telling the girl and she was pulling them away and putting them back saying it will be fine, when she removed them I could hardly open my eyes and she went "oh you have had a slight reaction" I was like em yes I told you! She never told me how to calm my eyes down so I came home and put a cold compress on & some which hazel
Another time with a different Hollywood didn't even do my bum!
Getting my "shellac" done in an NSS cause I was going on holiday in a few hours and my therapist had let me down (before I trained) was not CND shellac & was left for 5 minutes under the lamp each coat so took ages! He then complained when I wanted glitter on my toes! I was taken to a trainee who could not speak a word of English for her to "prep" my toes.. E filed to within an inch of their lives cut all round my toes then put alcohol on to stop the blood! I let out a massive scream lol.. Why can't I find a therapist to do things to me that I can't do ahh??

Some of the other ones I have read are shocking and mines don't seem to bad now lol

AbsoluteBeauty your HW wax experiences sound exactly like mine...it actually does my head in, WHERE DO THESE PEOPLE TRAIN? What is the point in waxing front without waxing back I just don't get it?

You can be trained by the best trainers.. Unfortunately if the therapist being taught doesn't or can't retain the information ...it is all worthless. ...
