Here is my current YP ad and I need to change/update it for this year.

http://www.salongeek.com/gallery/showimage.php?i=6541

I'm working on new wording for the bullet points but should I keep the picture? Or change it for a different one? Or ditch it all together and just have text?

The bullets are somnething along the lines of:

- Freelance specialist mobile Nail Technician
- Creative Master Nail Technician (not yet but I will be this year)
- Nail enhancments and natural nail care where science meets beauty
- To see how your nails can look check the gallery on 'www.vnails.co.uk' (not there yet but will be by April when this goes live)

Any opinions for me please? Cheers!

I think you need to make your decision based on return in investment. How many calls / clients do you get from the ad? Also what do others do, how does your ad compare to theirs.

Oh, the new text looks good.

Vetty, I used to sell YP ads hun!

Think what you want the ad to do?

Then try & incorporate that into your advert, I'm a bit pushed for time just now, got a client at 9.30, but will be on this afternoon, pm me with your main things/results you want and I'll put some wording together for you.

xxxx

Oh, the new text looks good.

The ad does perform for me - it's expensive but generates onaverage 3 times the cost in profit...... The others are smaller, black and white - mine is the only full colour ad which is why I'm changing the wording to give the impression I am more of a pro than the others are :o....... My OH questioned the picture and got me thinking about using only text.....

Thanks Bev, I'll put some thoughts together in a PM - but basically I want the ad to say I'm professional (a specialist really), make mine the first number people call.....

Thanks for the input and the help.

When I trained with the Thomson Local they said remember the old adage - a picture speaks a thousand words. Whenever thinking about your ad look at the hairdressing pages. Which hair salon would you go to just by looking at the ad? I bet the ad you choose has a picture!

Good point! Thanks Sass

I think the advert is very pretty and it would catch my eye and would draw me more towards you rather than a one line advert.I think the picture makes the advert so i would say keep it.Its a very nice ad xx

vetty I like the new wording, it reads better than your first add, I also like the line science meets beauty, I've been thinking of adding the cnd tag myself (cnd rooted in science. dedicated to beauty ..love it !)

I tried for ages to come up with a line that would show how versatile I can be and that nails didn't just have to be white/square etc, so I use 'anything from au natural to the full blown WAG and anything in between'
I'd keep a pic but maybe update it, some of the new cnd images are fab why not use one of the new ones?

look forward to seeing the new ad xx

Definatly use a image, but like others have said think about updating it.

People's eye will be drawn to the image first

I think one of thew new images will be good. I toyed with adding the full CND strapline but have adapted it slightly...... I still might!

thanks for the Pm info.

I have had a look through my yellow pages and the ones that stud out the most were the ones with pictures in and were in colour. So it is probably a matter of whether to keep the photo you have been using or whether to change it to another picture.

I know when I'm looking through the yp for something a picture definatly gets me attention. I'm like a magpie though, attracted to anyting shiney! xx
