hey guys

I have a couple of clients who all of a sudden have these yellow stains/spots on their nails. The marks are on the natural nail as they were still there after a soak off. They are definately yellow not green or brown and start off just as spots however one clients has stained more and look like nicoteine stains.

Is this a fungus or bacteria or could it be contaminated brush/products?

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks
Holly

As the stain is on the natural nail, I would say that it is possibly the start of a bacterial infection, which does start off as yellowish before going through the greens and ultimately black!

Are you removing the enhancement as soon as the yellow is noticed? If you are that's probably why it hasn't progressed to the green colours.

If it were brush contamination, the stain would be in the product only and would come to light in the product as soon as it was applied to the nail.

I agree with Cathie on this one too.

Contamination of your brush would lead to discoloured stains in the overlay & not the nail.
If your client was prone to lifting I'd more likely guess it was the start of a bacterial infection otherwise known as a 'Greenie' - assuming the staining is ON the nail plate and not UNDERNEATH it.

:rolleyes:thanks guys..took a nail off today that had a very small patch of yellow and as soon as it was in the acetone for 5 mins it went..wasnt stil on the nail..still the start of a greenie?

Also if its a bacterial infection will taking the nails off and getting rid of the stain be enough to get rid of the infection?...and is it my fault cos Im really sterile and every client gets their own files that I disinfect and also use NSI nail pure at each session....is cleaning my brush in the monomer enough???

sorry to be a bit manic but its realy done my head in!!!

Thanks for your time
Holly
