I recently sent a client to the doctor to see if she had a fungal infection and the results from her clippings is that she has not. Very happy about that but what now! ...
she has what I am pretty sure to be onycholysis, She is a hair dresser and has been for many years I think the condition is a result of years of pulling the hyponychium while washing hair as well as wearing nail extensions to long and to hard in the past.
I realise that Onycholysis is a contra indication would anyone have any advice that I could give my client as she is desperate to have nails on... I have explained that tips are out of the question and that maybe a gel overlay would be ok but as it is a contra indication should I really leave well alone and just manicure only... please help X

Onycholysis is only a contraindication if it is severe ... severe being more than half the nail unattached.

I have done many nails that had onycholysis with great results as long as she keeps them short to begin with and until the onycholysis grows out.

Short is the key along with regular use of Solar Oil to keep the nail bed supple so the natural nail can reattach itself more quickly. If she commits in partnership with you to caring for her nails it is only then a matter of time until her nails are strong again.

Thank you ...
I love your reply and its just what I wanted to hear ..
