Has anyone tried both systems and if so which is better in your eyes? If you use either one of these I'd like to hear from you too. I was asking about Yn vs Cnd but now I think I will pick one of these YN or TT. Thanks loads. :)

What is your criteria for making a decision?

Different brands and education are different for every person, but it would be much easier to advise you if we knew what you were looking for.

Hi Liz

I have used both CND and Young Nails I have also trained in other systems throughout my years as a nail tech.

My best advice to you is to call the companys which you have choosen and as what they have to offer such as, training, ongoing support, customer service and try sample kits. But remember when you have a go at these products you always get the best results when you have had the proper training.

I Love the quality of YN products and the choice of colours and glitter they offer which I think is second to none (Only my opinion) the ongoing technical support and customer service a excellent which you will get with all the big companys.

Only thing I would say is do your home work give them a call and see what they can do for you then you will know which glass slipper fits you best.

Hi Honey

I find YN very easy to work with and as to how it holds up. Most of my clients have thier nails on anything between 6 to 9 weeks or some times more.

wk 1. new set on
wk 2 or 3 infill the nails
wk 4 or 5 rebalance
wk 6 or 7 infill the nails depend on how good the nails look
wk 8 or 9 soak off re do

Regarding TT, I wouldn't use them for one reason and one reason only... they advise using a 100 grit abrasive on the natural nail to prepare it for the enhancement products
This is not only not unnecessary, it also removes countless layers of nail plate at the same time, therefore thinning the nail and therefore harming the health of the natural nail.

Why do you need to soak off on week 8/9? In fact, why do you need to soak off at all?

Sorry, but if you're using a good/top quality product then soaking off isn't ever needed, rebalancing is all that's needed for the life of the enhancements, surely???

yeah I was thinking the same thing I thought that was a little early to soak off. As far as the 100 grit I agree too rough I was going to stick with the 180 or lesser grit.

If you are applying correctly, using a good quality system, have had proper rebalance education and always teach your client's correct homecare and oil application, then there should never be any reason to soak-off, unless the client wishes to be enhancement-free for whatever reason.

There can be, of course, the odd occasion when a client wishes a new set, normally due to trying out something a little different...fine!

Most clients in our salon (and some staff, lol!) haven't soaked off
for many, many years!

What a pain soaking-off can be... in time and nuisance-value...we should all aspire to NO nailplate damage for our clients, the least time-consuming service and try to find a rebalance service that allows clients to have beautiful nails constantly, not just when brand new!

I have used/trial all of these systems, yn, cnd, tt. I can create beautiful enhancements with each system, however from a Nail Tech's point of view I look for a system that is simple to follow, cost effective (long term), less service breakdown (including discolouration) and up to the minute education, new techniques available and consistency in supply. For me CND ticks all the boxes

Hello love,

I can't say that I would use Tammy Taylor products because I have watched her videos and disagree with many of her techniques as they directly conflict with everything I have ever been taught.

Why don't you give International Nail Manufacturers a call? Website is www.inmnails.com - they have a great product that has been designed for nail techs BY nail techs? Easy to use, well priced and great customer service. They fit my criteria!

Why not CND? I'm just curious...

AGREE...when I see anyone pick up a 100 grit file to 'remove shine' from the nailplate, I just CRINGE!

well right now with no clients it is a lil costly, and I am finding it hard to get everything I'd want in hte powders anyway. Cosmoprof carries it but they only have 2 pink the white and maybe clear I like the idea of their line because of all the pinks.

Oh, I don't find CND costly at all. :) Best of luck in your search! :)

i totally agree and as a past user of tt i can confirm that it works perfectly with the same prep routine as you use for cnd.

i cant think why the team at tt wouldnt change the prep routine to be more in line with modern nail procedures. it would surely benifit them as a company as well as the clients.

I May not have made myself clear here but I did say the clients sometimes has them on longer than 8/9 weeks. What i should have added to that post was that the marjority of my clients dont have pink and whites but in fact have colour/ glitter and after the 9 weeks they look for a complete change of design.

Therefore to get the best result from the new design rebalancing is not needed but soak off to remove all trace of the glitter/colour used it required.

In my opinion I would soak off as I like my clients to get the best from the new design

So you need to call and get prices for each item?

I cant even get through one Tammy Tayler video because she says Tammy Tayler 50 times in 5 minutes and it drives me crazy....

Sorry kinda off topic but I had to throw that in...

You can just give them a call and ask for a price list or a list of distributors in your area. The have an extensive line of l&p, 40+ colors, a beautiful and easy gel line and a fiberglass line - everything you could ever need!

I adore their product, which is why I decided to sell it!

I've used all 3. I've used YN for about 4 yrs and CND about 2 (l&p, mani about 6) I trained with TT in 07 to improve my sculpting and no way would I rec them! They are totally old school and need to COMPLETELY change the way they do nails! They etch with 100, double prime, work wet - (even the step by steps show the brush touching the side walls and skin) and the quality isnt a patch on YN or CND. very grainy.

For me CND is superior to YN - I love YN products but CND far outlast a set of YN. Now dont get me wrong YN is a great product but until you use CND (correctly I might add) then you wont know what you've been missing. I have ironed out so many small problems since completely changing to CND, I'm doing the best nails I've ever done and I'm getting amazing resuts. I have often replaced a set of young after a few months either by soaking off and re-applying or by filling the nail down to nothing and re-applying a costly and time consuming practice - I dont think I have done any soak offs since November..............
I teach with YN as they do have a great range and over my 8yrs they have really helped to build me as a tech but given the chance over I would have saved my pennys and gone straight to CND. My product bill is actually less with CND then when I was with YN - I use less product and dont need to do as much filling - honestly I decant my monomer with a pippette whereas with YN they teach you to drain your brush on a paper towel and apply thicker product as they rec e-filing. Again I'm not slating them as I love them and still do use YN especially the glitters and colours but for me I get EXACTLY what I want from CND
