Hi all,

I keep reading about "Zones" in relation to nails but i've never heard of these :o. I'm assuming they are different areas of the nail plate/extention.

I've been on my Nail Tech course since 4th Feb and i'm learning the silk system. Are zones applicable to this system or is it just for L&P or Gel?

Could someone please explain to me, where they are etc.

Thanks

Zone 1 = the free edge

Zone 2 = the stress area (approximately half of the visible nail bed - the pink bit -)

Zone 3 = the other half of the visible nail bed (some call this the cuticle area but I think this just confuses as cuticle is deposited along any and all of the nail folds).

I think the terminology is perfectly relevant to the use of any system of enhancement. It clarifies perfectly the area of the nail you may be talking about and is a pretty standard part of nail terminology.
