When I do male back waxes they always lie on their tummy so I can access the back. Is this what you meant?

Hi Nailquueen,

This is taken from page 3 of the male waxing tutorial on Salongeek - just one suggested method of waxing a chap's back and shoulders:

http://www.salongeek.com/beauty-tutorials/40519-gorilla-warfare.html

BACK
  • Tuck a towel or paper tissue into your client’s underwear to avoid getting wax on his clothing.
  • Ask your client to lie face down with his head resting on his arms, or with his arms hanging over the edge of the couch – this gives you easier access to the sides of the body, but be wary of accidentally catching stray armpit hairs.
  • There tends to be a vertical line of hair down the spinal column, with the rest of the hair growing in towards the spine from the sides of the body. Wax the central line first so that you have a clean edge to work from, then clear either side of this.
  • A back wax doesn’t stop at the first sign of underwear! Ask your client to shuffle his trousers and underwear down slightly, enabling you to blend below the waistband for a more natural finish.
  • If your client is particularly hirsute, he is likely to want his neck and shoulders cleared too (see below). Wax these areas with your client in a seated position.
NECKLINE
  • Instruct your client to sit on the edge of the couch while you work from behind – he can then tilt his head forward and to either side, creating a good stretch in the skin as you work around the nape of the neck.
  • Unless specifically requested, don’t wax too high into the natural hairline. This area hurts as you venture into the densely packed and deeply rooted hair of the scalp. If waxing high into the neck hair, I personally prefer using non-strip wax.
  • Friction from a tight shirt collar will irritate freshly waxed skin, and remember that this area is vulnerable to sunburn during the summer months.
SHOULDERS
  • With your client in a seated position, remove all the hair from the cap of the shoulders (front and back), then blend to a couple of inches above the elbow where a t-shirt sleeve would sit.
  • Hair around the cap of the shoulders grows up towards the head, with the rest of the upper arm hair growing in various directions (around the limb from back to front, then down towards the hands).
As mentioned, with particularly hairy fellas I would blend the hair above the t-shirt sleeve line so that there is a natural fade between hair and hairlessness - you can do this with electric clippers and/or by pressing a sticky wax strip gently into the area you want to thin out and removing in opposite direction to growth as normal (i.e. rather than applying wax directly to the skin, use the wax already on the strip - this will lift some but not all of the hairs, creating a gradual fade).

HTH's :)

Ouch she is not holding the skin and didn't seem to apply in the direction of the hair growth at the sides!

Brilliant advice from Axiom, we're lucky to have you x

I am sorry I might be very wrong but omg this is not the way to wax a back!
As said she did not apply the wax in the way of the hair growth and certainly didn't remove the strips the way I was taught:eek: and as for holding the skin taut where was that??

Take everything Andy has told you and forget about this video:hug:

If you look and read.....it asks ''what is the best position for the man to be in''
I think the video shows that.
She was not asking ''how do I do a back wax''
