Hey everyone

I am interested in becoming a trainer within the next few years, only recently looked into this and found I need to do a PTLLS course. The course says you need to have level 3 in the subject you want to teach in.... Although I have my level 2 beauty specialist diploma, nails, level 3 massage, lash extensions, threading.... I dont have a full level 3 certificate in beauty therapy. Does this mean I need to complete the suitable level 3 units before I can do my Teaching courses? If fellow trainers and therapists can help me out on this please :0)

It really depends on what type of trainer you'd like to be.

If you'd like to teach full time in a college, then yes, Pttls would be an advantage, but also you'd need to be qualified as an assessor so that you can assess NVQs. Any assessors with an IV qualification (in my opinion as the manager of a college) are worth more than someone with Pttls. It would be absolutely no good to me if I employed someone who could only plan the lesson but not actually assess the results. Pttls is a very short course and can be done in a matter of weeks.

For either of them though, you really should be qualified up to at least level 3 in your chosen subject. You can't assess at NVQ level 3 if you have achieved NVQ level 2 yourself.

Hope this helps.

Hi I have completed my PTTLS course a year ago. Been looking into doing a assessors award but struggling to get students to assess. Any advice on how to find them? Thanks

In industry i have never needed to be qualified in epliation or body electricals because employers just dont seem to ask for this and the treatments dont really lend themselves to mobile.

Would i still need to become qualified in these things to be able to teach in a college? Like is it ok to seek a qualification in something just so you can teach it alongside all the stuff that youve got experience in? (im level 3 massage route qualified)
