Being a Rep

I just wondered how does it work when you are a rep for a company.

Do you get paid a set salary & then commission? What happens about your petrol & mileage? Are you classed as self employed?

Just wondering how you go about being a rep for a company, i know this will vary between diffrent companies but would just like to know how some people do it and what works for them

My friend does it, she is employed by the company and gets petrol expenses paid she just keeps her mileage records I think x
