Hoping someone can help.

I need to build a website and was going to use Vista print but it appears they change a monthly few.

Many thanks

Stay away from VistaPrint websites.

If you're determined on free look at Wix & Moonfruit but you won't be able to use your own domain and will have there advertising all over your website.

I've already bought my domain.

If not free are there any very reasonable website builders that could be recommended?

Wix & Moonfruit and pay there small monthly fee to remove there branding. It doesn't matter if you've already bought your domain name you'll need to pay a fee to use it with a website builder.

There are a lot of free websites out there, but I think you need to ask yourself why you want a website?

Used correctly, a website could be driving a large proportion of your new business. Therefore a poorly designed and static page could end up causing more damage than good.

A well designed website that connect and works with your social media strategy will give you a competitive advantage. However, many companies that do that for you can work out very expensive, and don't already provide value for money.

When I bought my salon, I decided that I would always keep the web design and social media in house. More recently I have started to host websites for other salons at a fraction of the price many web design companies charge.

A website need not be expensive, but do have one that reflects what your business and your USP.

It's so confusing. I'm quite business savvy but never built a website before

Agreed, and there is a lot of misinformation out there. Many companies prey on the clients lack of understanding of technology, SEO companies are a prime example.

But as salon owners, especially if we're hands on, cannot be masters of all disciplines i.e. accounts, marketing, IT, PR etc. It takes discernment to decide what we can sub-contract and what we can do in house.

To let pay someone to do what we have been doing can take a lot of trust, or they have to demonstrate the benefits. Salons can't be replaced by Amazon or Ebay, but the salon that has the strongest online presence will win.

Agree heavily with what's said above. If budget allows shop around and try and with a web designer that you get on with. Makes it easier.

We do a lot of SG'ers websites and believe we are fairly trusted and truthful at all times. We do payment plans too :)

If you wanted to see a small selection of our portfolio check out our website - Website design London.

Hi, I use wix free, I'm quite happy for the ads to appear as they're not conspicuous. I've found wix the easiest to work with and, at recommendation by a client, was told I needed facebook to help direct traffic to my web. Wix also posts you business ideas to help you, and I've now found a lady who will help me with the FB side (cos I'm rubbish at that). Here is her free tutorial in case you're interested: Facebook Made Easy - Online Marketing Explorers.

Not bad portfolio, some good designs there, layout and html work. Own website though really could do with some work to relay company's ability.

Might give you a shout myself later if needed.

Unfortunately our own stuff is always the very last thing to get done. You wouldn't believe how long I've been waiting to run a batch of leaflets for ourself lol.

Thanks for all the replies.

Lots to move forward with :)
