Blue/black hair

My hair dresser dyed my hair using a blue/black dye but my hair just turned black, i have tried using manic panic in blue on top of the black but it just stays black.

Is there anything out there that i can get my hair dresser to buy that will give me the blue sheen i want over the black?

I had the same problem when i was black.

I worked in a salon and even with a mix of half blue-black and half pure blue, i still didn't get that blue sheen.

I just have too much red in my hair.

That was a few years ago mind so would love to hear from some current hair pro's in case something new is out on the market
