Breaks for junior assistants?

Hi, I'm asking on behalf of one of the juniors at the salon where I work.

I rent a room via my friend at this salon so don't have many dealings with the boss however even I can see he isn't the most reasonable man.

I just want to know what breaks as a general rule are juniors entitled to?

They work Monday as training 10-5 (they used to have Monday off but this is now a training day so they only have Sunday off)
Tuesdays and Fridays 9-6
Wednesday and Thursday 11.30-8.30
And Saturday 8.30-6

From what I gather he doesn't give them what they're entitled to which they think is 30 uninterrupted minutes. For instance the other day myself and a junior went out for lunch. We left at 2.56 as she has to time herself to not get into trouble and after 12 minutes he had text her asking her to come back as the salon was busy.

She also told me he gets funny when they try to go out on their break, they try to do this so he can't call them out the staff room but now he just texts them to come back. They're aged 18 and 19... also one of them is coming up 16 weeks pregnant
