Hello everyone
Having been to numerous salons/spas over the years, I know as a client a big factor for me alongside the products and technique is the comfort of the bed...not wide enough and I can’t relax as arms could fall off, not padded enough and my back screams half way through, not sturdy enough and I’m self conscious getting on and off... but when it’s right wow what a difference it makes...I never want to leave and I’d happily pay double!
So now my daughter and I are starting our own treatment room offering facials, massage, lashes, waxing etc and we’re looking to purchase the massage bed and it’s proving a challenge as it’s all online, prices vary drastically and you have to buy before you try...
So after a long winded question (I must get the hang of this!!) can you please help and shine some light???
We’re based in Wiltshire UK.
Many thanks

Hello V,
I hope you have sorted your massage bed problem out , but as I have only just joined the Geeks I can now reply , so I am sorry if it comes too late for you....
I have a very comfortable reasonably priced couch.( Bought second hand) It is electric and is almost identical to the couch available from Natural living. It is called the Sunrise electric spa couch. Mine is only electric to raise and lower to the desired height .... an absolute godsend for my tiny clients or those suffering with mobility issues. I have noticed that they also sell a double electric variation that will lift the clients upper body, again a brilliant aid for me which I wish I had on mine!
In my salon experience we had REM furniture , and had no problems with the quality, build, longevity issues and of course you could visit their showroom and try before you commit to anything. Maybe that's worth considering.

Have you heard of "The comfy client cushion" ? An award winning specialised cushion, that is available for use in salons, spas and hospices to give a very relaxing surface for the client lying in the prone position.
Clients lying in the supine position however need a little support occasionally . Therefore I have a variety of cushions to support the head and knees. For their head I don't use the one from the couch manufacturers as I found it too hard ,instead I use a small cushion pad from Dunelm. A much larger cushion for under the clients' knees reduces the back pain of the client used as and when they need some more comfort .
So tailoring it to their needs becomes natural and care of our clients is why they come back.
May I wish you sucess in your venture, I love my work and hope it all goes well for you.
Regards RosieR

Most fold up ones come with add on arms to extend the width of the couch. It takes up a lot of space in the room so I never use them but if a client has a large frame I’d attach them. Very rarely need to.

As for comfort you can buy blankets and get memory foam padding and cut to size.
