Hiya xx

Had a client yesterday who had very long natural nails..and they where also very strong...she had decided that she wanted them all cut off as she is going to start making soft furnishings and thought they would get in the way...she said she didn't like nail clippers or files and wanted me to use scissors...then she didn't mind if i just filed them smooth afterwards...i did as she asked and she was happy...but i feel things could have gone better...i had a right job cutting them as they where so hard...and to be honest i was scared i was going to crack them.

What should i have done...or could i have done to make it easier....all i could think of was soaking them to soften them..but she said she didn't want anything other than a nail cut..no cuticle work, no polish.

Thanks xx:wink2:

you've got a thing about hard ones haven't you?

Well, i think i would have explained to her that as you were scared of cracking her nails, maybe you could file them down and just charge her for cutting them?

i was told on my last course that if the nails are much longer than you want, use a low abrasive grit (say 180) to get the length down to almost where you want it, as that will do the job a bit quicker, and then swap to a 240 to finish off so the layers of the nail aren't split.

thanks toni...any more ideas...? xx

If the file didnt do the job with them being _really_ long.. then I would think I would offer to soak them for 5 mins, even is she didnt want any cuticle work, it would be easier on your nerves cutting them off ... ;)
