I'm looking in to adding make up to my treatment list but I'm thinking of doing it mobile.

When I did my level 2 beauty it covered day/evening/occasion and wedding make up.

Now I'm wondering If this would be enough or do I need to do another course?

Thanks in advance x

I think a lot of it comes down to how confident you are in your skills.

I think courses are very important to keep up to date with new products and trends - I myself have been a qualified mua for 10years, but am looking at attending some courses in the near future.

I would take a look at a good comprehensive bridal course if you do want to go down the bridal make up route, after all, it is your responsibility to make the bride look and feel incredible, so make sure you're top of your game.

Also, you will have the opportunity usually when on a course to take some photographs, and the first thing you need to Market yourself will be a portfolio, so the shots you take here will be the perfect starting point.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your advice, I was thinking it would be a good idea to do a bridal make up course, I'm not sure who to do it with tho, my college are running one but I don't think that's enough, I was thinking of going with a company but I have no idea who, could you recommend any? X

I qualified both as an MUA and a beauty therapist 12 years ago and I regularly attend additional training courses to brush up on my skills and to learn new ones, as new techniques and products are coming in to the market all the time.

Brides & clients on the whole are very savvy, so I have to be on top of my game to meet their expectations!!!!

As Laurasnowwhite said, if you are looking to go in bridal makeup find a reputable private beauty school or college that has bridal or beauty makeup classes available, as it is your responsibility to make the bride look and feel incredible, so make sure you're top of your game.

The college should also teach you how to portfolio build, introduce you to new products & application techniques. Ask to visit the school/college to see a class in progress to see if meets your needs and expectations.

If you are stuck finding a good college or private centre you could try calling VTCT - Specialist Awarding Body Offering Vocational Qualifications > Contact > Contact to check if there are any accredited centres near you.
You could also try contacting local MUAs whose portfolios you like to see where they trained or if they could recommend somewhere to you.
I would strongly recommend that you contact the awarding body i.e. VTCT or NVQ etc to see if the school/college is accredited with them prior to parting with any hard earn cash!!!

Hope this helps

This exactly.

When I did my NVQ, I thought the make up training really wasn't great. So I took a private course in Bridal make up as that was more the direction I wanted to go. It was worth every penny.

I did the 3 day one that the London College of Fashion run. It was excellent.
