hi thanks for replying, how long does the training to be a trainer take, and who are you doing yours with

well im thinking of doing the francise with cuticles then it takes 3 yrs to be a grand creative master then i will try for a job there, otherwise ill contact my old tutor from skipton x

Hi Louise
when you said you were doing francise with cuticles....what exacally does this mean! and also what about creative master 3 year!!!! does that mean once you a creative master they will train you for a further 3 years or do you need further 3 years work experience....sorry totally confused HELP

hi kathy-sorry i have totally confused you!

as far as i know, it takes 3 yrs to become a creative master, and then you can see about being an educator after that. i should think with ur experience you should be able to breeze into an educators job. if you can find a college nr you, go in and ask if you can shadow someone. also, go on the excel website cos you can do the teaching qualification with them......

heres what i found....

Teaching beauty...

I have already gained an ITEC Beauty Specialist Diploma, but I now would like to know how I can teach this to 16- to 18-year-olds?

Joyce.

Career Doctor says...

If you want to award a nationally-recognised qualification from an awarding body such as ITEC, you must contact the awarding body, which will check your premises to give centre approval and details on how the course should be structured. Alternatively, you may work for a college that has gained centre approval. Either way, you will also need sufficient work experience (ITEC ask for 2 years' experience) and teaching qualifications.
Teaching qualifications include:
Edexcel (BTEC) Certificate in FE Teaching. To find out about this course, look at the Edexcel website at www.edexcel.org.uk/qualifications, click on BTEC short courses, then Teaching and Learning.
OCR Certificates in FE Teaching. They are designed for those who intend to become teachers and those who are already employed in a teaching position (either full-time or part-time). To find out more go to www.ocr.org.uk and use the Qualification Finder to search for Teaching qualifications.
PGCE or Certificate in Education in post-compulsory education. To find out about these courses, go to http://www.fento.org/staff_dev/update_endorse_itt_table.html
City & Guilds Certificate in FE Teaching. To find out about this course, go to www.city-and-guilds.co.uk and use the qualification search to look for teaching qualifications.
Verifying and Assessing Units are also run by local colleges. Contact City and Guilds and Vocational Training Charitable Trust (VTCT) for a list of colleges that run these courses.

hth let me know what you find out chick
