Depends on the brand, a true professional only brand will either want copies of your certificates proving competence or want you to take a course.

Just to add, please be wary of skincare brands that are part of the MLM schemes that suck you in to recruit others. Brands like Virgin Vie, Neals Yard, Younique, Arbonne, etc.
