Hello everyone. Ive recently gone self employed 16 hours as i have 2 little children and im planning to start trying for another baby end of the year. Do you get statutory matetnity pay off the government for 9 months as i dont have an employer? Thanks in advance. Lucia xxx

There's loads on info online about this but in a nutshell yes. Aslong as you've been working for a set amout of time before the claim date, they will then look at your income and base your MA on an average of over 11 weeks I believe. Up to 90% of your income. You get 9 months as normal and the good news is that the tax credits do not take into account the 1st £100 a week of MA that you earn. You can do an easy online calculation here https://www.gov.uk/maternity-allowance. X

Thank you very much xx
