My natural hair colour is mousey/light brown. I've had platinum white highlights for the last year and a half. In a bid to get back towards a more natural colour I went to a well known high st salon. The 'colour specialist' told me that I couldn't have low lights in my hair but instead I would have to have a colour correction which she did. She attempted to turn it back brown and then to put highlights back in. However, the correction didn't work, went very orange on top and muddy at the ends. I was in the salon for 5 hours in which time she washed and added more stuff to it several times. I was left with orange roots, khaki ends and a drizzle of ashy highlights !. (I'd originally taken in several pictures of Cat Deeley and Jessica Alba for inspiration !). My hair was wrecked, looked singedfrom about an inch from the scalp and down to the roots. As a result I had 4 inches cut off ( much to my dismay) and another recommended salon told me I had to wait till after Christmas before they touched as their strand test made my hair completely break off. Had it redone a few days ago. He put hi-lift tint highlights in and a l'oreal lowlight 5.13. The orange has toned down but the ashiness is even worse. Bearing in mind how damaged my hair is, is there anything I can do to 'clean' up the colour ? Will the ashiness fade or shall I go back and ask for a warm toner or will that damage the hair further ? I really want to keep the length of my hair but want to minimise damage. Will warmer toner bring out the orange again ? if anyone can offer help I'd really appreciate it. My hair used to be my pride and joy but now I can't stand it ! thank you for helping x
