Are you a hairdresser?

I am currently doing an apprenticeship with a hair salon.

Should you not be asking whoever is supervising you're work?

Ok, so what have the other stylists and your tutor at college advised you?
Also think about the tonal quality you want to achieve, and have a look at your colour wheel, and tell me what tones are in your target colour.

I'm trying to impress my teacher by dying my hair this funky colour!

I have looked at the colour chart, and I'm aiming for red violet. I am red now, so if I put purple in my hair, would it come out redy violet? And go give it that pinky shine, I underatand with paint you mix red white and yellow, but does that work with hair colours too?

Erm, no. Where does the white and yellow come in?
Teachers aren't impressed by students attempting colours, they're impressed by students wanting to learn correctly the rules of colour.
If you're not colouring yet in class, you'll be better off modelling for the level 3 students at your college, and watching and learning from what's used and why.
