Regular customers are the key to keeping your salon business cash-flow positive. Your current customers are easier to market/sell new services and products to than a brand new customer. Also having a large list of ACTIVE customers ( ie. Customers who visit your salon regularly) means that when and if it comes time to sell your business, your business will be more valuable in the eyes of a buyer.
So how do you keep your customers coming back?

  1. There are many loyalty programs ranging from points systems, free treatments after a certain number of visits etc and to a certain degree they work. People like to see their loyalty rewarded so a loyalty program needs to be created to suit your business.
  2. Client referrals are invaluable. Friends and family recommended by your favourite customers are gold. These referred clients are already half way sold on you and your business. Finding a way to drive more referrals to your salon with incentives to the person who referred them in the first place is a system your business needs to have in place.
  3. Survey your clients. What are their fears, frustrations, needs and wants when it comes to your industry? Creating a value experience for your customer will mean they keep coming back again and again. It will also turn them into raving fans which will mean that you will gain their friends and family as clients without even trying.
  4. Create a sales script around rebooking clients for your staff. Train your staff on how you want them to rebook customers and get them to role play this until it becomes second nature for them.
  5. Host a VIP event or workshop for your customers, where you offer promotional prices on services and retail for anyone who takes advantage of your offer on the evening. Your clients will love the special offers and you'll love the extra cash injection into your business.
I hope this advice gets you motivated to create an exceptional experience for your current customers- they are what keeps your business operating. Find as many ways as possible to create value for them and your advertising budget will become less costly.

May you prosper and achieve the time and money freedom to do more of the things that matter most to you.
