As Lord Sugar kicks off his search for this year's Apprentice, over in Shropshire, the hunt for the next big thing in hairdressing has taken place.

Organised by Shropshire Council’s County Training, the competition saw 25 Level 2 and 3 Haridressing and Barbering Apprentices battle it out to be named the region's most talented trainee. The hairdressers were all employed by salons in the Bridgnorth, Ludlow, Oswestry, Shrewsbury, Telford and Whitchurch areas and were required to present their skills in four categories: the Circus, Fairytales, Happily Ever After and Haute Couture.

Gill Smith, Hair and Beauty Manager for County Training, commented, “The standard at this years event has been astounding. Our Apprentices have put so much time and effort into their preparations – it really demonstrates their creativity and valuable skills they have learnt through their training to date.”

Winners of the night were Fran Hansen,19, Level 2 Apprentice at Zest, Shrewsbury with a pierrot clown, Victoria Smith, 21, Level 3 Apprentice with Sophisticutz, Shrewsbury with her bridal interpretation and Shelbie Allport, 18, Level 3 Apprentice at Jane Eyre with an Alice in Wonderland creation.
