Hi salon geeks - I did a crazy angel spray tanning course in July last year but daren't sell my service as most of my tans on models produce patchy hands and feet. I ended up going to a tanner who specialised in Tantruth products and my tan which she did was perfect, so I bought some Tantruth solution, (which apparently is the same company just packaged differently for different wholesalers), yet I am still getting the same patchy results. Can anyone advise what I may be doing wrong - it is only the hands and feet. The knuckles are really dark as are the toes and achilles tendon. Your help would be much appreciated, as it really is time I started earning some of the money back I have spent on the products and equipment. x

Try some Barrier Creams on these areas Hun, will work a treat!!! It's because these areas tend to be dryer than others, so the tan clings!
Get them to do claw hands when you LIGHTLY spray the hands too :) x

I always spray from a further distance away on hands and feet this normally works when barrier cream has been used etc.

Thanks for your advice. I was taught to ise barrier cream on the whole of the hands, wrist, feet, elbows and other dry areas. Having done as I was trained, the results were really patchy. I then began to use the barrier cream as the Tantruth spray tanner did on me, just around the base of the feet, palms of the hands, elbows, knees and other dry areas, yet for some reason, although not as patchy still not perfect to sell my service as the knuckles and toes are still dark and obvious that they have had a spray tan, all other areas were perfect. This happens even when using the lightest colour. I must be doing something wrong - maybe pressing the nozzle too hard, like you say, maybe I should stand further back. I am frustrated, I have to say, but can't give up.....x

I totally sympathise I'm ready to have breakdown done some tans which are lovely::smack: other stripy I cud cry I don't know what I'm doing wrong any advice would be wonderful :|

Stripey tan.... What machine do you have, what setting do you have it on and what technique do you use? You could have it set to spray horizontally, but actually spraying vertically or vise versa??? Just a thought

OP - trying putting a little barrier cream on knuckles and toe knuckles, you could also blend some in on the bit at the back of the ankle... This should def help! Also, don't overspray the hands, just a light misting, leave them until last. Same with the feet!!! A lot of overspray will land on the feet anyway, so they only need a light spray at the end x

Hi I have the Apollo true mist for sienna dial set at 12/6 told to spray vertically dial turned about 3 turns spray on couch roll first seems ok had a few larger clients and very striped was taught to do 3 sprays down front and back but really not enough :Scared:

You need to do as many sprays as they're body needs. I was taught 2 sprays down the back of arms and this is fine if spraying a size 8 person, but a size 18 needs at least 3 I have found. So maybe increase the number of sprays down the front and back that you are doing and that should help the stripeyness (not a real word!!!) x

Don't count the number of sprays you do, as this will vary from client to client, just ensure you have covered everywhere :)

P.S. agree with leaving hands and feet until last and then only giving them a light misting :) x

Hi, I was taught to spray in sync with the body, that was curves all around, until I reach the knee and from there down, spray vertically to the ankles and come off. I find the tan on the body is perfect, but even though I leave the hands and feet until the end and very lightly spray them, I am still getting patchy results on these areas and bright orange palms even though they are out of the way and covered in barrier cream. I am going on another course on Wednesday, provided they can get enough trainees on it, so hopefully I may find out what I'm doing wrong! I will feedback to you if it goes ahead. I was thinking of changing my machine to Sienna X and the spray, as so many geeks on here rant and rave about it.....I'll get a tester first and see if there is a difference. x
