:Scared:Hi,
I've posted a few questions regarding electrolysis and received so much wonderful advice. Today i really need some honest opinions.

I have been doing mainly electrolysis for about a year now and after having many people suggest getting an apilus i made a plan that i would buy the cleo as i can't afford the SeniorII, and rent a room for a few hours a week in central London and make electrolysis my main treatment and also provide microdermabrasion and galvanic facials too.

I felt there would be enough demand for electrolysis as that is my passion and what i feel i want to do as my career, but my husband just does not agree. He thinks i won't get enough clients to make a living and pay for the machine.

I know many of you therapists are making a living from electrolysis and I'm so passionate about it that now i feel really upset that maybe he's right and i really won't get any clients. He keeps on going on about Laser being more popular and even though i have argued with him for hours explaining why electrolysis is the only permanent hair removal method he still believes that the average women will not be aware of this and will have laser done as you get rid of more hairs. I have told him that laser is hair reduction not permanent removal yet he does not see people actively looking for an electrolygist rather than go into a laser salon. (sorry for going on and on but have to vent my fustration).

I have many clients at the moment but i work as a mobile using an old carlton diathermy machine and it takes ages to set up, but i don't make enough money at all.

I just don't know what to do. Do i go ahead with my plan or just continue the way i'm going? I just can't afford to screw up and i don't want to let go of my dreams. sob sob.

Hi

Maybe hes worried and doesnt really understand the treatments and the machines you use and the time and cost involved, if it were me I would draw up a plan of what it costs me to do a mobile treatment for x amount of time then show him how many treatments you can do in 6/8 hours a day I would then show him your business plan for your room and your costings for this and how many treatments you can do in the same 6/8 hours

If you explain it all it wont stop him worrying but he may understand the business sense in it!

Good luck! x

Thank you so much for your reply. Your right, he is worried financially but i know this is the only way i'm going to make a decent wage. But to be honest i can't even promise him that i'll get even one client and he needs me to be able to say that i know this will work when obviously i don't. I did draw up a rough business plan but again, what if no one comes.

Thanks for your supportive words though. They mean a lot when your so confused. God Bless.

I trained in electroysis years ago, and to be fair the demand for it over the last couple years has declined. I still offer it as a treatment but i have to say my laser is more popular and any strays we have- we can use the electroysis machine. So in my eyes i see the beneifit for both. I make better money with laser.

Can i suggest considering a loan from your bank, or lease method, as i know pently of companies that will pay it outright and you eventually pay it off. (pm for more info)I have a lot of info on this stuff purley as i research the hell outa it before i purchased my machine to see which one was price wise effective. you could even just do the advanced training which will get you certified or by purchasing a machine, you get free accredited training with some! Nehoo i wish you good luck and to serioudly consider this slump! xoxo

Thank yo so much for your honest advice Wonderwoman. I think i'm going to have to really think about doing electrolysis as my main treatment.

Apilus have offered me a good deal with 6 months interest free credit. So as long as i can cover that i should be ok. They also provide training which will be really helpful.

But i'm really thankful for telling me that laser IS more popular. At least i know what therapists think.

When I had my salon I was very busy with electrolysis because most salons in my area didn't offer it. If you are very good at it, I dont see why you can't earn a decent wage? Some peeps on here only offer waxing, or spray tans for example, and still get a decent income.

If it is something you are passionate about (like me), you will probably be very good at it, so I cant see why you would not get clients. Admittedly, the majority of my clients were older ladies with excessive facial hair, but those type of clients are very loyal, regular, follow aftercare advice to the letter, and dont mess you about.

I only use the sterex SXB blend machine, but also trained in advanced cosmetic procedures (ACP) with them - skin tag removal etc.......... I found that a lot of electrolysis clients would then go on to have ACP treatments, and that age group are fantastic at recommending you to their friends.

I say go with your passion!

ps, how about starting yr practise with your current machine to see how it goes, and if it successful then upgrade?

If you have the skill and experience there is no reason why you can't make a living from electrolysis. This is what I having been doing for the last 14 years. I returned to the Uk 16 months ago from Sydney and had the same concerns as I was going to a small town. It took a year for my reputation to spread and now I am in demand going to start in Glasgow as well. Most clients are ex laser, there is enough people doing laser. Clients are looking for practitioners that specialise there is a great storage around. If you can afford an up grade then do it clients will be impressed
believe they

Just to add that most of my clientele are electrolysis clients - however they also ask for other treatments as well but the mainstay of my business is electrolysis. I get all age groups and find it really rewarding when their confidence soars as a result of successful treatment - it reinforces what a great career choice it is.
