feel really silly asking this but can someone refresh my memory on abrasive grits. eg is it from 100grit being roughest up to ? being the smoothest.

Yup... I use:

100grit - Free Edge only...
150grit - Surface of nail, to contour with...
180grit - For natural nail work & file graduation...
240grit - For natural nail work & file graduation...

The lower the grit count, the rougher the abrasive is.

Nothing lower than a 240 grit should ever be used on the natural nail and even then we are talking about minimal use in the direction of nail growth.

When I teach I call it exfoliating the surface of the natural nail. It gets the students to think immediately of a gentle action just to remove shine rather than an abrasive harsh action which will remove nail plate layers.

thankyou room one and geeg xx
