Ok, so I've bn plagued with spots since I was about 13 but recently my skin has got really bad. Im 25 now. It's dull and rough and new spots appear every day.
They are the painful ones that are deep under the skin and take ages to go away! I haven't had a completely clear face since I was about 12 :O

I got panoxyl 5 from doc last time but it didn't help at all.
I'm already on the pill but thinking if switching as I only took it to help my skin but now it's worse than ever so it can't be working.

Can Anyone help please, products, treatments, pills.. Anything really!?

Literally in tears earlier as I hate my face! Even makeup doesnt help conceal it much unless I put loads in which I hate doing :(

I had this same problem, 27 year old and skin went mad.

Had the cream and antibiotics from
The doctor and it didn't work except make my face feel dry and sore.

I gave up after the 6 months and decided to buy some good foundation to cover up. I tried No 7 BB foundation and the Nivea oil free moisturiser. Also Nivea sensitive face wipes to remove it on a night.

I never really wore make up before as I was scared of making it worse.

Since using the above my skin has totally changed. I still get the odd deep spot but only the odd 1 around the time of the month. But my skin has never looked and felt so good.

I don't use anything other than water or the wipes on my face to wash/clean. I found all the spot fighting lotions and potions made it worse.

It might be worth looking at a good BB cream. I now swear by it.

Not a beauty professional, this is just my personal experience.

Thanks for the response. Il look into the bb cream you mentioned :) il also have a look at the Nivea products.

As a skin care therapist my advice to you would be to book yourself an appointment with a good salon and have a skin analysis. A good therapist will either advise you to seek help from a Dermatologist or be able to start you on a skin care regime suitable for your skin type. I wouldn't advise you to mess around with products until you take professional advice as this could well exacerbate your skin condition.

Thanks. Will do! :)

I had the same problem. I saw a dermatologist and went through treatment for a year. Completely new skin now. I don't suffer from acne at all however the treatment I was on was pretty vicious. Probably not allowed to name it but if it's really bad and affecting your confidence see a dermatologist. Again I'm not a therapist. Just someone speaking from experience. Good luck xx

Hey nad1a
First off I can sympathise with you as I know exactly how you feel and it's awful, i started suffering with acne around the age of 13 and its been quite difficult to get rid of it but I will tell you now there is light at the end of the tunnel, I won't bore you with the ins and outs but I have spent an absolute fortune on antibiotics creams facials masks and dermatologists you name it iv tried it, my acne is hormonal like most women, I'm 25 now and I'm 100% acne free at last, except for the odd few spots around the time of the month, what works for me is: jasmine contraceptive pill (I was on dianette but it turned me into an emotional wreck) quinoderm 2.5% benzoyl peroxide i apply this every night even when I'm spot free, you can get this over the counter at any chemist, and garnier pure active 3in1 wash scrub mask, I use this morning and night to was my face and it's a brilliant mask it makes my skin less oily and you can pick this up at Tesco or any chemist, a great website for tips and advice on acne is acne.org it's well worth a visit! It's all about finding what's right for you and I know it's hard but be patient most products take 3 months or so to work, keep us posted and best of luck kicking acne up the ass 😜 xxx

Jasmin is a brilliant pill, was the only one that vaguely agreed with me about 10yrs ago I was told it was a more expensive one and not stocked by most chemists they had to order it in, and the dr would only prescribe on request or last resort.

Op I'd look into this pill and see if it will help x

Just started using Clear It BT Tuél, Joe90 on here retails it. Very promising so far.

Hiya, i myself too have suffered with acne from the age of about 20, i was given various medications, creams etc. the only thing that cleared my skin was the environ product range. Obviously there are other routes but if you can find an environ salon near you i would definately suggest looking into it, i started on the 'b active' range specifically for acne prone skin and then moved onto higher levels of vitamin a and have had amazing results! I hope you get it sorted whatever you do, i know how awful it can be xx

Can totally sympathise with you, have just finished a year of treatment with the dermatologist, I tried everything over the 7 years I had it an eventually got referred to the dermatologist who ended up (after trying me with everything else possible) giving me roaccutane. It's cleared up my skin amazingly but I'd only recommend it as a very very last resort as it's a hard core tablet. This was my skin the week before starting roaccutane

Have so much more confidence now, I use Estée Lauder maximum coverage foundation to hide the scars that are too deep to do anything about and my skin looks perfect, still get the odd spot now and then but nothing compared to what my skin used to be like xxxxxxx

I had horrendous acne into my mid 20s. I saw my gp, he tried one course of treatments, the referred me to a dermatologist, they tried another ... Neither worked.

We then discussed roaccutane which include discussing the side effects. It is a horrible drug in some ways and J had to complete two full courses to get my acne under control! But the difference was amazing! And be aware for at least 6months after you can't have any waxing done and a bunch of other treatments and procedures.

For some people topical solutions work, but unfortunately for others like me and the poster above we need to get the body to reset the skin from the inside.

I have never used so much e45 and lip balms in my life!! But now very much worth it!

I still have bad acne scars on my chest ... But i can deal with them no problem.

Go and see your GP and get a referral to dermatologist ASAP.

I was also on roaccutane up until last year. I doubt a doctor would even consider a hospital referral so soon. Done wonders for me after just 5 months (I had acne for 17 years) but it's definitely not a drug for everyone. Strongly suggest trying all other roots possible first xx

Glad you feel more confident now! :) I used to love that foundation as it covered everything but I hate the new formula, the colour is way off now :( x

I use a light mineral powder over the top of it instead of a setting powder to set the foundation and to match the colour of my skin better as I found the Estée Lauder to be a bit off colour too :) xxxxx

Same as above, I was referred to a dermatologist when I was about 16 and had 6 months on a pretty nasty medication but it's solved the problem. Occasionally I get the odd nasty spot but no where near as bad as I was! It's not nice, I remember it well but with the right treatment I'm sure it will get better, take care x

Oh and I swear by Estée Lauder double wear for the scars

Had same as others- adult acne from around age 16-23 Under the dermatologist for 2 years before they put me on 6 months roaccutane. Blood test, pregnancy test every month. Defiantly can't get pregnant whilst using roaccutane. NO alcohol! No sun! Must use SPF especially on dry lips!

Best thing I done. Had clear skin for 3 years after treatment but it's starting to come back a little now.
I am now using Nip&Fab glycolic range to help with skin renewal which should reduce new breakouts and help with scarring. Also helps with anti ageing!

I like garnier bb cream!

Also you can buy derma rollers online. It's a good tool to help products get right into the skin layers. But be careful if you have active acne!

There are so many treatments that you can try before you go down the Roaccutane route. I would advise seeing someone who specialises in skincare. Docs tend to churn out the same old same old - stronger and stronger topical treatments that bleach towels, and often won't refer you to a dermatologist until you ave tried their methods!!!

I offer a free skin consultation and a money back guarantee as so many companies will take a lot of money off you with no guarantee that anything they have sold you will work.

A few pointers. Firstly, I would never use wipes because of the products in them that a) stop them growing bacteria and b) keep them moist. Try and avoid anything too heavily perfumed, or avoid perfumes altogether. I think Simple skincare is a load of tat, so I couldn't recommend.
Try and use a good mineral make up - they can usually be layered to give excellent coverage - but avoid Bare Minerals as they contain a product called Bismuth which can aggravate an already stressed skin! Minerals powders are good as you can reapply throughout the day.

Don't wander around shops smelling products. Find a reputable salon and build a relationship with them. Ask them what guarantees they give that their products will work. You should find prescribed products from a good salon a lot more effective on your skin than anything you can pick up in Boots.

Finally, try not to over dry or over exfoliate. It is very common with a problematic skin to bleach it/dry it out, and exfoliate all the time which can lead to a stressed skin producing more oil to protect itself!

Any questions, please ask and I will do my best to answer.

Vicki x
