i've just sat for 2 hours and gave myself gel nails for my holiday on monday, I thought I would do it myself and see how long they last and if they lift while on holiday, this way I can feel better when I give myself critisism, I've done a friends set of gel nails but I never get the feeback I want, did it lift? how long before they started lifting? etc,...anyway they look alright and if I knew how to work the digital camera I would have attempted to show you all how they look, but anyway I will keep you posted when I get back as to what disasters happened:Scared: it was'nt easy doing the right hand but i managed in the end! I done a full prep and after applying tips and struggling with the blending read my nailclass and:hug: managed totally great blending!! Well off to bulgaria on monday so wish me luck with my nails, and I am counting down the days until I start my foundation course with Creative:biggrin: -18th september, busy with vtct at the minute but feel I need more training, I have to say I feel I have learnt more off this site than at college! I will stop waffling, but just thought I would share this with you xx:o

I always wear enhancements and try out any new product on myself first. I don't lose nails and never suffer with lifting, so when a customer returns with nails that look trashed :irked: and they say "I don't know what's happened, this never happened with my old tech", I know they are lying. ;)

Good luck with your Foundation Course.

Its not easy doing your right hand at first (if you are right handed) but its very good practise.

What you will find is that the gel will most likely stay perfectly well on your hands in comparison to a customer.
Some clients are rather heavy handed and are sometimes not even consious of trashing their nails. Lifting also occurs when they do not maintain their nails on time; i.e. every 2/3 weeks etc.

As what was said before, its always nice to try out products on ourselves first. You feel more confident whilst using it on the client.

Goodluck on your hols, enjoy and dont worry too much about nails!!!

thanks for you replies, I quite like my left hand but not so sure about the right, but they are on now and staying put!, ive started faffing with the nails on my right hand because I think they look wide or a bit thick, probably just me, anyway I need to go now as I have packing to do:D so I will speak to you all in a weeks time:hug:

i have the same beliefs as louise, i get no lifting apart from a teeney weeney bit on my right hand (i cannot pat properly with my left) and i dont lose any at all.....so if mine are fine so should my clients unless its self inflicted by them
