Big curl perm?

Hi hair geeks,
I'm wondering is there such thing as a big curl perm? I spend forever curling my hair as it suits me much better than straight hair(my hair is poker straight) and after all the curling it goes straight again after 2-3hours
Back in the day when perms were the rage I had a perm but this didn't last long either, a few days!
My question is, can you get perms with big curls and does it depend on your hair wether it will last or not?
All advice would be appreciated, I want curly hair!!

A perm should last longer than a few days! Did you wash it the next day? Curling your hair with tongs/ straighteners looks very different to having a perm. Do you have a picture of your hair curly? X

No I'd be pretty good at following aftercare, I doubt I did, this was prob more than 10 years ago!!
I've no curly hair photos, I'm useless for photos :-0 but I use a large tongs as I don't like small curls, I'd usually just curl midway-ends of hair for curly blow dry effect
