Ive got so many clients asking me about botox parties at my salon is this something u offer?? Id obviously looking for someone who specialises in this area wouldn't be me lol! Any advice would be great thanks xx

Hi there.
I do Botox in Lincolnshire but don't agree with the "Botox Parties". Just because I feel it's a medical treatment rather than a "chatty treatment", however in saying that, there is nothing wrong with doing Botox on certain days in your salon where before or after treatment, clients can sit down with a cup of tea and chat to one another. Google your area to see if there are any Botox Consultants available. Or ask your local dentist as well. I hope this helps. PS- double check insurance and what it covers. X

Sorry cant help you with the botox but i LOVE your shoes!! x

This might seem controversial but I don't disagree with the idea of a 'Botox Party' per se.

The main requirement would be that the consent process is done properly for anyone wishing to have treatment at the party. I have done demonstration and information evenings where more than one person has had a treatment done.

However, I always have contact with the client before the treatment to do a full consultation, medical history, examination, drug history etc to make sure there are no contraindications. I also make sure a full consent form is completed for protection of both the client and myself.

Alcohol is a no-no as well because this could be seen as impairing the clients ability to make an informed choice about treatment with a prescription only medicine.

I feel as long as everyone is given the full information, given an opportunity to ask questions and to see examples of my work along with my full contact details should they wish to speak to me, then there isn't a major issue.

I do have an issue with people getting loads of clients together, plying them with booze, doing the treatments then never seeing them again. I invest time and effort into building a relationship with my clients because it is actually a good long term investment!

I've lost count of the number of clients who said they came to me because 'x' botox practitioner in the same area as me didn't offer them a follow up/review appointment, didn't take before and after pics and when they got in touch with a question or complication they were made to feel as if they were mithering so I think thats a compliment to the way we work with our clients and why we have grown so fast in just one year.

Slightly off topic but regarding medical history... Is there any reason why a type 1 diabetic couldn't have Botox?

It's not an absolute contraindication and botulinum toxin doesn't interact with insulin or diabetic meds.

The only thing I would say is the injection sites need to be cared for properly as diabetics can be more prone to infection but other than this should be fine!

BotoxBoy is very true! Great reply. This is what I love about this forum, you get so many different opinions that aren't 'wrong or right', they are purely views which are unique.

Thanks!

There's also the issue of drinking alcohol after the treatment which everyone should know about but hasn't been covered.

Any REPUTABLE medical professional would not be participating in 'botox parties'. Absolute no, no. Steer clear and do not be persuaded otherwise. This is prescription only medicine and needs to be treated as such. As for type 1 diabetic - as botox boy explained, if the individual was well controlled there is no reason why not.

I believe Botox boy specifically said "alcohol is a no no"

I can assure you (and my 100's of clients would agree) that I'm reputable!

As I say, there's a big difference between a planned event where everyone is assessed and consented before hand compared with a big booze up where people turn up and decide on the night to get a treatment.

And yes, no alcohol mainly because when drunk you're more likely to touch your face and not follow the after care but it also makes you more prone to bruising.

Woaw botoxboy hang on - not for one second was I suggesting you were not reputable! Simply, for anyone reading this, my advice remains the same, (and if you asked any reputable practitioner they would say the same) that botox parties as such should be well steered clear of. I am amazed really I have to point it out.

I have not been qualified and in this industry for over 20 years to not know what I am talking about so come down off that pedestal of yours, there is a lot you can actually learn. I'm really done with this now. Geez!
