I think this thread would be better if started all over again...as it has been confussing....from your first post Mommytocalee you gave no mention of training or how much products would cost which is why you haven't got the answers you wanted. I have been helped so many times on here from many of the same geeks who have replied to you and all have given there time to read my posts and to reply giving the best advice that they possibly can so i disagree that they may be intolerant with beginners. It all down to how you post and what you ask... if you ask a straight question you will get a straight answer.

Lets wipe this clean and start again....xxxx

Hi all, beginner here! What do I need to purchase to apply my french tips?I ahve searched and have found online the UV light dryer and was wondering what is the best protection gel/topcoat/????/ what is it that you put ontop of your nails after you have applies the tips for best protection?

hi,
i havent done any training. just a personal interest of mine. i dont want to spend a fortune on the wrong supplies . no good to ask me any other questions because i havent a clue. i just know what i want and it is the thick coating that goes on over your nail after french tips have been applied.

Hi there,
If these posts had been worded differently as in,advise needed on which course to take, training support, profit margins and so on, my response would have been totally different..........

I can only reply to a question asked and to be honest and fair to us, there was no reference to training advice...only the reference to personal interest.....again if there had been David would have been one of the first to help out on this question...........This is like asking for the time and then getting upset because we didn't give you advice to how to find a good course that teaches you clock making...

So ok, lets start again................. and maybe we can help you..... there is also the Beauty Tech site, which is USA based and can give some advise on training courses for the USA

Amyuk, I don't think any of us are intolerant of learners, if we know they are would be new Technicians that are keen to learn this fab profession.......
I certainly haven't forgotten in the last 13 years how hard it is to get great advice and help, this site wasn't around when I started out.......again we can only respond and be helpfull if we have all the facts given to us....For all, as to avoid any more confusion in the future, please ask precise questions , this will avoid any confusion and upset.....
Thanks geeks xxxx

Oh my, oh my,

there is ONE (yes only one) place that offers the training in "LCN" in my province. But I didn't know this until I realized (partly from this thread) that in order to apply french tips preferrably i would need training. So initially, yes, my post WAS for personal interest but that is because i didnt realize that i had to have training to order the things i need to even do my own nails or to even get the advise i was searching for. I did NOT mislead anyone intentionally. My posts were my posts and they meant what they were supposed to mean...in the beginning! As people replied I realized that to apply LCN there would have to be training involved. so to ask a more informed question in the beginning i would have to have been more informed.... but I was not....as many have noticed and pointed out :| That is what I have learned from this thread. The replies i received got me thinking about doing the training....that is where i wanted to research costs. Does that clear the misunderstaning up? ( I was only asking for peronal interest in the beginning but it ended up being that I was getting interested in doingh the training.) Unfortunately......it is only the LCN and the Nail Art course available here! So that is the extent of training opportunities.

NAILS IN LONDON 1......I didn't get upset just a little defensive! I could not have started this post out any differently. I was not INFORMED enough...but rest assured I am now.

Just to let you know LCN is a product company that supplies training it is not the name of something applied over your nail tips. LCN is a very reputable company and had been around for amny years, you could do a lot worse than train with these.

Sounds like after being on here you have got the bug tee hee.

see...yet again more evidence of my lack of knowledge. I thought that LCN simply meant light concept nails (french tips, full nail, ect.) haha! I am really learning from this that my first post is so "uneducated"! A simple question is not a simple question when it comes to this technique. There is much to learn..... first my post was just to do my own nails, then within minutes i was on the phone calling a business/organization (whatever) that offers a 5 day training course (and yes that is all that is offered). Should I, shouldn't I. very costly i am learning. someone had implied "to make a quick buck" ???? there are 600 people in my community 60% men....making a buck is not possible. ..... unfortunatley.

At first it was for personal interest..then i actaully thought about doing some training, when i became aware that it is preferred before applying even my own nails. so my fist 2 posts were going down a different track then the rest of my posts. that is where the confusion is!

Phew glad we've got that one cleared up! Thought I was going bananas!! (oops forgot I am bananas!:) )

Okay to help your learning further, LCN is a German company that have specialised in UV gels (that means you have to put the gel under a uv light to harden or"cure"it). They have been in this country for 20 years, and I've used them for the past 3 years. Thye have an excellent range of products, however I would warn you that gel can be rather temperamental when applied over white tips. This is because the ultra violet light is reflected back by the whiteness of the tip rather than being fully absorbed by the gel. You then get an "under cure" which means the gel lifts away from the tip. LCN UK have stopped selling white tips because they have had so many clients have this problem. The only way round this is to apply a natural tip and then use a white gel to give that French finish.

Also, to get on that heady route of learning nails isn't as easy as it sounds, you're not going to come away from that 5 day course and do fabbo sets. It takes a lot of practice to get your speed and quality up - but then the whole town will suddenly become your best friend as you need people to practice on! A full set will take you anything from 3-4 hours to start with!!!!!

Anyway hope that has helped a bit more - see our bark is worse than our bite lol!! Good luck in whatever you decide to do, and sorry we started off on the wrong foot, but we got their in the end!
