Ive just joined this site so I hope ive posted in the right place!!!
So a couple of months ago I took the plunge and had Extensions fitted as I had several weddings and parties to go to this summer and my own hair is extremely thin and short.
I found my stylist via Book of face she had lots of before & after photos, positive comments, and worked at a local hair salon.
I was told they were Chinese human hair & paid the £185 to have them fitted. (theyre keratin nail tip ones apparently)
After 2 weeks they started becoming pretty frizzy and knotted all the time. I followed all the after care that she had given me and used the products she had advised me to use nothing seemed to make any difference.
I contacted her and she told me they had probably dried out as she did warn me that the Chinese hair dried out quick and to try a hydrating hair mask - I did and still no change.
I did contact the company she purchased my hair from and they asked me to get her to contact them which she never did stating she no longer had my order number for the hair even though I said if you gave them your details they could find the order number.
Anyway after a month I couldn't even do anything with it! If I wore it down or in a bun it completely matted up to the point where it took me over half hour to get every knott out and a whole brush of hair!
Then the other day I suddenly noticed thick black shiny strands in my hair (the ends had started to fade so I could see them) I asked another hairdresser I knew and she said that it looked like its been mixed with synthetic hair and would definitely explain why its so frizzy & matted. I then tried the burn test on a couple of strands.
I pulled out a few of the black strands and when I held them over a flame they fizzled and melted so theyre definitely synthetic.
I spoke to the stylist who then got all defensive telling me I couldn't have a refund as she does not do refunds and they told her it was human hair and basically implied I had made it up despite having another hairdresser tell me and testing the hair.
She said she wont refund me as its not her problem its the hair company she got it from and said she would contact them and if they refund the money for the hair then she will refund me that - But it would not be the price I paid her.
I have no idea where I stand shes making out Im being unreasonable saying im being rude but shes advertising them as human hair and theyre not ive paid £185 for plastic hair that's so matted I cant do anything with and im having taken out
Feeling pretty upset as I had to save for ages for them and was looking forward to having lovely long hair for all these weddings instead ive been left with a frizzy mess
I have contacted citizens advice for some help. Just wondered if anyone else had ever had this problem and what happened x
