Hi everyone!
I'm not a hairdresser but a nail tech and I wanted to ask you hair professionals a question. I am thinking of getting hair extensions for the very first time, only issue is my water at home is pure well water. Over the years i've know whats good and bad for my highlighted hair and the water.

Just wondering will it affect hair extensions? Do you think a shower head filter would be good? I've seen a couple of hair extensions specialist but they don't really know the answer for well water...

Many Thanks! :) x

How has your water affected your natural hair?

It's frizzy, straw-like, the colour fades fast, in not shiny and healthy looking, brakes off easily and get greasy withing a day. That's what it's like without any product in it. With the right product its ok. There's a lot of build up in my hair because of the water as well. x

Could get a little costy but I've known people to use bottled water while away aboard or if there home water is too hard. I used to use well water a few years back on my hair extensions while I was staying with a family member but I'm pretty sure they had some sort of filter fitted.

I think well water might have some adverse effects on synthetic hair extensions. So, if you are going for cheap clip-on hair extensions, then you should avoid it. Go for 100% human hair extensions. They would be just fine in well water.
