i also agree with the backcombing and also think some zig zags would be good then you can frizz them up a bit too.
Zig zags done with foil.. wrap the foil around the strands of hair and fold it how you want the hair to come out so for zig zags fold it up triangularly and then apply heat with the straighteners. Unfold the foil and voila!
