Hi there, we had a regular client yesterday who likes her hair bright red! Last time we used the Goldwell Topchic RR mix with 20 vol on her roots and a semi through the ends. This time round she liked the RR@all in the Elumen range. We used the prepare, coloured it, rinsed, washed and used the Lock but it didn't take on her roots? Any suggestions please? Thanks so much.

Did you pre lighten her roots? Elumens vibrancy only works best on prelightened hair hth ;) xx

Hi - We reached out to Goldwell Art Director, John C Simpson who provided the following response:

First I would try an actual level and target shade like Topchic Max Reds 6RR and 20 vol. Instead of the RRMix. It provides you brilliant color and reflection. With the Elumen , it works on whatever you put it on @ the desired level. Since there is no lift with Elumen, this is why visibility was not there. Also the new hair at the root has tight cuticular layers. It needs to have been pre lightened or placed under heat. If the application was root to end, it will be different for sure. My favorite is to do a Max Red Shade at the new zone, then an Elumen overlay after! Radiant , Eluminated hair!

Thank you for your reply - we ended up putting the 6RR max on her roots, so basically what you suggested only the other way around, lol! Her colour was gorgeous when she left and was very happy with it. Would you still have to use the prepare before the Elumen? Just makes it quite long winded, thanks again.
