Quick question for hairstylists

Hello! I am not a hairstylist or anything, but I thought this could be a good place to ask a question I've been having for a few weeks. The reason why I'm not calling my local hairstylist and asking is simply because I get nervous and worried about the slightest things.

Anywho, I really would like to get just a few inches cut off of my hair, but I have one single dread on the bottom layer of my hair. When I go to get my hair cut, what should I tell my hairstylist? Should I just tell her about my dreadlock and tell her to ignore it?

I apologize if this seems like a silly question, but like I said, I just get really nervous about things like this. Haha. Thanks for any help!
