Hiya,

I'm really struggling with shaping short extensions.
I did the attached set on Saturday and they were a really nice tapered square shape but she wanted them shorter and more square and they ended up like this.

I'm normally always doing quite long stiletto or ballerina shapes so when it comes to these I look at them and hate them.
Any help appreciated? :)

You need to bring in the sides a bit more as they are tapering out. Light strokes, vertically down, and hold the file firmly against the nail. You can then square off the tip. Hope that helps. :)
 
Yeah I know what you mean - they look short and fat :eek:
I did have them nice and tapered but then when she wanted them shorter they lost all shape!
I'll try again next time and keep at it - hopefully I can stick to the long ones for a while :D

It is harder doing shorter nails, I agree. I spend way more time shaping and filing than on longer nails.
 
It's all about straight sides. Taper them in and they will look better.
