I've been self employed for a while now and it's come to the end of my year for my tax returns. Before my ex boyfriend was an accountant and he done all the paper work for me which is great! However now I gotta do it on my own and I don't have the money to pay out for a accountant. I looked over the instructions to do it by paper and I was pulling my hair out as I didn't understand any of it. I've never done this before. I then heard that it's better to do it online and that it talks you through step by step and then it's all worked out for you at the end. Is this true? And is is a better way to do my tax on my own?

I do mine online & find it pretty straightforwards, but if you are struggling you can contact the tax office & they run day courses to help you fill them in, else you can arrange to see one in person for one-on-one help.
