Stress causing itchy scalp and hair loss

My friend is going through something very similar. She's lost her Mum, then her Dad. Didn't deal with them. She has a multitude of medical conditions and needs personal care. She spent four months last year in hospital, three induced comas, three attempts at a tracheostomy and the third worked...

Hair not curling like it used to

Just a thought.....but is she using too much product? They may be weighing it down or too moisturising maybe. Also, as said above, age could play a part. I know my hair had changed because of menopause. Maybe her hair needs a rest from heat too. Just throwing ideas out.

    Lockdown 2.0

If you look at the post by the NHBF up above, it states 'including mobile services' 😊

    Lockdown 2.0

Me too. I booked today up in no time at all. Long three days ahead. Then just have to wait and see if we can open from the 2nd, or the lockdown is extended. I really hope not. Good luck everyone x

    Not very busy!

My weeks are up and down. Some weeks are busier than others and I'm thinking it's because there was a big rush on in the first two weeks of July, and all the colours and perms were done then, so they're almost in synch with each other now. I have my regulars which keep me going and it was so...

    Not very busy!

I'm at home on a Friday afternoon! That was once my longest opening day 😕

    SumUp/iZettle pros and cons

I use iZettle and it's pretty good for what I need. I find most clients still want to pay with cash, and the odd one with card. So it's nice to have the option. Sometimes it takes a while to connect to the phone so I just turn it off and on again and it's perfect. I've nothing to compare to as...

How much do you charge for an elderly lady’s perm?

I think it depends on the area of the U.K and whether it's town centre or not. I know mine would have words with me if I hiked my prices right up lol 😂 we're Lancashire folk and pull no punches. Say it as it is 😉 everyone's happy and that'll do for me 😊

How much do you charge for an elderly lady’s perm?

I've always permed and can wind in my sleep. I use plastic strips to put under the bands to lift away from the hair. No lines or breakage. I do a lot of OAPs and do a cheaper rate on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. And that's at £45. I use Affinage, regular, litre perm on some that like a strong, tight...

    Price increases after Covid

I did put my prices up as usual and added a bit extra. I explained about the increase (50p extra) and they all agreed. They still comment on how much it must be costing me. But I'm not increasing prices again for a good while for the same reasons. We're all in this together x

    Track & Trace advice

Oh I feel for you. But, you're not on your own. I've only had this morning in work and the two salons I pass on the way home from work, near me, were shut (one was always VERY busy). Plus a guy who works on his own like me was sat in one of his chairs on his own, in another salon I pass. I have...

    Percentage of increase in clients

Majority of my regulars are back with the exception of one or two that I've not heard from. Two or three of my older ones have passed away unfortunately during Lockdown. I've gained a couple of new ones but that's about it. Phone isn't ringing as often. I find it goes in waves of how busy I am...

    Track & Trace advice

Likewise. I got mine yesterday for anyone wanting to check in. Most of mine aren't tech savvy but the younger ones are more likely to use it.

    Double base colour 88/0

I'd say give it time. Colours are really intense to begin with. A couple of washes can really make a difference. Maybe focus more on a lighter shade for her next appointment rather than mess around too much with it right now and potentially making more work for yourself x

Low lights on pre lightened hair

I used Wella KP 7/7 on my friends hair after she boxed dyed it blonde and ruined it. She was a fading pink and couldn't wait. It blended her roots and tie dyed hair in lovely.

    Card payments

This is very helpful and constructive advice. Most of my clients have been the elderly and mostly prefer to pay by cash. This will throw them out lol. Thank you very much x

    Card payments

    You too xx

    Card payments

I know, it's overwhelming when you don't know which one to plump for. Those that can, can do bank transfers. I have elderly clients though that probably wouldn't be able to do that. Going to look at the Pay Pal thing haha. No idea what I'm doing x

    Card payments

I'm in the same boat Sunflower 46. I've only ever accepted cash or cheque. I've looked at Square and Sumup and Sumup sounds more reliable going by Trust Pilot. I only use a current account too. Didn't think about a Pay Pal one. I know nothing about these things either. I don't have internet...
