It is very difficult to advise. Alopecia is still much misunderstood as a disease. I have suffered from alopecia areata on and off for 10 yrs, it is triggered by stress, pregnancy, trauma etc etc. it is unpredictable, what works for one person may not work for another. One may recover the other develop universalis. That us the nature of this autoimmune disorder. I could list the numerous treatments have tried but who knows if they really worked for me or if it was something completely different. If you are a hairdresser you could suggest he uses aminexil, or that he seeks help in the form of acupuncture, homeopathy, aromatherapy to look at diet and nutrition, certain imbalances may be linked to such hairloss. I would definitely avoid giving direct treatment advice however. I avoided the medical route of steroids on my doctors advice, I would advise your client to seek help and support from Alopecia UK.

I have to agree with skin geek. I have had several clients over the years with it and their choices of treatments have varied hugely with mixed results. All I
have been able to offer has been a relaxing treatment like reflexology to help with the stress. He really needs to see a specialist.
