Just me again!
I have been looking at how to become a nail tech and there are so many options available its really confusing.
would anyone have any advice? I have looked at home based courses but I feel that going on an intense 5 day course would be better. And should i do a general acrylic and gel course or go with a brand such as creative nails etc and do all their stuff from the off?
Thanks in advance

Hi there

When I started out I bought a home learning course and from my experience all I can say is...don't waste your money! I am still paying for the course every month, but since then have been on numerous other training courses as the home one just wasn't sufficient.

I have trained with CND, and although more expensive, was the best thing I did, as the training is fantastic, and the additional support is great too. I did an intense course with a generic beauty school in acrylic and ended up doing CND conversion because I wanted better training. Having said that, you could go for the 5 day intensive course as a way of dipping your toe in and seeing if you like what being a nail tech involves, and then go on to do more specialist training if you want to take it to the next level.

hi
i agree with cerries
i did the home learn course and to be honest i wish i hadn't, i am now looking into doing a conversion course with cnd.
the thing with home learn is that you have not got a tutor there to help you do correct procedures, so you could be learning the wrong procedure and not even realise it.
have you got a pre requisite in mani/pedi cause as far as i am concerned it took me a whole year to learn all the different diseases and muscles and bones in the hand and arm and foot and leg, i cant see how they could cram all of that into a 5 day crash course.

good luck in whatever you decide to do

Thank you, Its a long time since I qualified so its all new really. I am firstly going to do a manicure and pedicure course, CND have one which is 1 day. Or possibly I will do the CND beginners course which covrs manicure and L & P etc.
Thanks!
