In a month that included two stage shows, numerous appearances for Wella across the UK, in-salon training seminars in several cities, and attending to her own clients in salon, Rochdale Business Woman of the Year Jamilla Paul, owner of Jamilla Paul Hair & Beauty, still managed to find time to organise a Ladies’ Lunch for her adopted charity, REstore.

The lunch for 110 women raised nearly £2,000 which will help REstore continue its support for women struggling to get back into the workplace.

Jamilla has been a patron of REstore since it launched more than three years, helping raise funds and support as well as providing a makeover for every participant so they feel at their best as they begin their job search. Jamilla also runs an in-salon programme that encourages clients to donate unwanted clothes to the charity’s shop in central Rochdale, which she helped open in 2013.

‘It is such an amazing charity,’ said Jamilla, who was named Rochdale Business Woman of the Year in 2013. ‘Many women, for whatever reason, find getting back into work a challenge and REstore helps them seek out the right job opportunities and coaches them so they are confident and well-prepared to apply.’

REstore is a Social Enterprise based in Rochdale which helps women change their lives by offering training and work experience. Its clients often left school early, have no qualifications and lack confidence. By helping them back to employment it aims to change their lives, the lives of their children and their communities.

‘Jamilla never refuses a request for help and we are very grateful for her help and support. She has been personally involved with our clients, attending award ceremonies and presenting certificates,’ said Elizabeth White, director of REstore. ‘She offers our clients a free hairstyle at her salons when they finish the course. This is a real confidence booster for our women and helps them prepare for interviews.’

Until then...geek on!
