Hi there, I am a Make-Up artist that fell in love with wig work and decided to do Hairdressing and I am so in love with it, its the best thing I have ever done, I have one problem, I live in a really small town and I am 34(is it my age?), I have contacted a few salons for some work experience they don't seem keen to take me on.Paid or as an unpaid volunteer, some said that they have to many trainee's, so i suggested perhaps if I just come in casually for an hour or two.

No Joy!, please can anyone suggest anything, I want to go self employed mobile when I have finished( will be doing NVQ3 and Barbering) but i trully believe that work experience is key.

I was thinking that in the new year I would literally take a CV in to every salon and beg.

Any advice is valuable.

Thanks in Advance.

Hi
I have had the same experience
Need 50 hours for my course

Letters received no replies

Widened my search to 30 miles away (the course is quite specialist)
Finally dressed the part and with my explanatory letter I
Called in person to a salon and have hit the jackpot

The lady has also offered a saturday job

Persistence is the key and think outside the box

Can help you but with ideas

pm me
:D
