What does everyone think to colouring or perming on a pregnant client?

Sorry I'm not a colour specialist, but my friend who is (and was pregnant) says to avoid applying chemicals onto the scalp. So avoid all over colours (unless a skin test is done and comes up fine), but highlights are fine. Not sure about perming... I'd avoid telling the client that it's perfectly safe though, and just say studies are inconclusive and it's up to the individual.

To be honest if one of my clients was pragnant I would not want to put them into contact with any chemicals, as i wouldnt want to be resonsible for harming her baby. You can only advise your client what you think. It is also an idea to tell your client that during pregnancy her hormones will be changing and that colours and perms will not come out as expected. Its probably safest not to. x

i am studying hairdressing at college and i am pregnant and as far as i have been informed hair colours are so advanced today that they are ok to be used, not like before when they maybe werent as safe. i have had my hair coloured, and i'll continue to perform colours on clients.
