Ravair Ltd have been providing, free of charge, "Flexzorb tm Face Masks" with all their units and to local GP's, Dentists etc and East Sussex Social Services. These, at present, are disposable face masks with Flexzorb Military Grade Filter Material Added, see Flexzorb for full details. Flexzorb tm is an Activated Carbon Material used worldwide,"it was initially used- and still is to this day-as a protective layer in military clothing and masks against chemical, biological, radioactive, and nuclear (CBRN) agents". Ravair Ltd use Flexzorb tm Material FM10 T230 Laminated to Black Daltex with Impregnated Pure Silver that "deactivates the virus". This science is fully backed up by a 28 page Independent report by Health Protection Agency England, at Porton Down. It is also used in first responder suits, and space suits. The electrostatically positively charged material "attracts molecules from various gases, liquids, and other environments such as negatively charged virus (all viruses are negatively charged) adsorbing them into a network of micropores and "deactivating" them."
Next week Ravair Ltd are introducing a washable three layer cotton face mask, picture below, that has a "pouch" to insert the Flexzorb tm into, while in use and is easily removed to wash the mask and then replaced. Refill packs of 3 flexzorb tm filters will also be available so the mask will be a "one off" purchase. (Hands must be scrubbed or sanitized before handling the mask or flexzorb tm but that applies to any mask.) "One gram of Flexzorb tm contains more surface area than half a football pitch" so with careful handling each flexzorb tm, filter should last several weeks. The mask is graded IIR which is better than the recommended grade 2.
The actual mask will have adjustable ear straps, and cost only £14.95 with refills at £12.95 for three.
