Fire alarm installed for a new salon?

hi guys, I need some help if anybody knows if I need to have a fire alarm in my new hair and beauty salon or it's not necessary? Please help...

A couple of home type fire alarms cost £15 so is it really worth not having.

We are just finishing our other salon and because it's gone though a rebuild it has got to have a fire and smoke alarms along with emergency lighting.

The fire alarms are then comisioned by the fire brigade. This route is very expensive, wether it's required in an older salon I don't know, but I'd opt for the first line above.
