Hi All,

Please can someone enlighten me if we require fire doors in all the treatment rooms or just an ordinary doors will do? I know I have to put one fire door by the exit. I am not sure for individual rooms.

Many thanks xx

You need to get a fire risk assessment. Look online for companies offering fire extinguishers, these companies usually offer fire assessments. Your local fire service may also be able to help. Your insurance company may also offer a service.

There are standards for commercial occupied buildings which are different for domestic homes. A”normal” door might not be suitable. The doors are not treated as separate parts, the fire risk is assessed as the whole building, how each area is used, what happens in a fire situation. I do my own fire assessments because I’m qualified (which is unusual, it’s because I have a previous career) but I’ve still had a professional survey because it’s always good to have a second opinion.

Your local Council may have some information about this on their website, some Councils have minimum standards. It’s probably under building control.
